The Trotwood CIC is proud to be part of this collaboration to create new home ownership opportunities from vacant properties and empty lots for residents displaced from the 2019 Memorial Day Tornado.  
"The Trotwood Community Improvement Corporation, in conjunction with the Miami Valley Long Term Recovery Group and others, will take damaged properties and vacant lots throughout the area to make homes for families as well as prepare them for the home buying process."
“The opportunity to build a new home on an empty lot or rehabilitate a home for a resident still displaced by the tornado is one step closer to completing the recovery and moving forward,” said Chad Downing, director of housing for the Trotwood Community Improvement Corporation.

The Trotwood CIC has transferred a 3.3 acre site on E. Main Street in Trotwood, adjacent to the City of Trotwood municipal building and across the street from the New Library.  This is just one more project along Main Street establishing Main Street as a true city center in the community.
Chad Downing, executive director of the Trotwood Community Improvement Corp., said the new courthouse is one of three large projects either completed or in the works for the area that will “be one of our city centers” and a “catalyst” for future development.
​“This will create more critical mass, create more employment and industry, which will help our other small businesses in this immediate district along Main Street and into Old Town. It will help them greatly in making further investments and growing,” Downing said.

The Trotwood CIC has sold lots in Sycamore Woods Neighborhood to Residential Developer G.F. Bailey and their subsidiary I-3 Homes to be developed into new single-family homes.  These homes offer new construction techniques, including steel framing.  This project will start with 4 homes and expand to as many as 30+ additional lots.
“The City of Trotwood is very excited for the new home development by I-3 Homes,” said Trotwood Mayor Mary McDonald. “This is another step forward in providing new housing opportunities for Trotwood residents and to grow our community.”
